Student of Accounts – CASB Program

We are actively looking for two students to join our firm for the spring of 2010. We are looking for people interested in coming to work for us as soon as their current programs are complete and we would like to target May 1, 2010 as a start date for students that will be starting the CASB program.

 

We welcome students already enrolled in the CASB program and with advance standings as well.

 

Our Company:

Charles Jeffery Chartered Accountant is based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Our firm includes professional accountants and support staff, who provide assurance, taxation and management consulting services to our clients throughout the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

We provide services to a wide range of clients such as owner-managed companies, private companies, public-sector/non-profit organizations, government organizations and all forms of First Nation organizations

The Location:

Yellowknife is the capital city of the Territory and has a population of 20,000. The city is situated on the shores of Great Slave Lake (Map) and is well known for its outdoor activities, midnight sun, northern lights and aboriginal culture. Prospectors founded Yellowknife 70 years ago and the city continues to attract people from across the country with that same pioneer spirit and love of the outdoors.

Yellowknife is a dynamic, growing community with many opportunities. There are currently two diamond mines operating in the North (headquartered in Yellowknife) and a third mine is expected to commence operations in 2007. Plans for the Mackenzie Valley pipeline project are also progressing. Our diamond mines and natural resources are new participants in the world markets.

Training:

Our office is accredited with the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants for the purpose of employing Students in Accounts. We can provide the experiences which will support your training. We can schedule your assignments to fit the requirements of CASB program. You will have direct exposure not only to experienced Chartered Accountants but Chartered Accountants with experience in teaching and instruction. The people in our firm increase their skills every day.

The Applicant:

Must meet all CA School of business (CASB) requirements and be enrolled to begin the program for May 2010. The successful applicant will primarily provide assurance services and will also provide personal tax, corporate tax, finance and management consulting services to our clients under the direct supervision of a senior chartered accountant.

Benefits:

•  All CASB entrance and Institute fees will be reimbursed

•  All ongoing CASB and Institute fees will be paid by the firm

•  CASB tuition fees will be reimbursed by the firm on successful completion of each module

•  All Travel relating to the CASB program will be paid by the firm

•  3 Weeks Standard Vacation Time

•  Christmas Vacation Time (December 24th to January 2nd)

•  Christmas Travel (air fare) for employee to any major Canadian city during their CASB studies.

Many of our assignments are located in highly desirable tourist locations for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. We encourage you to take advantage of your surroundings. We can structure work assignments around personal travel and exploration.

A standard work week consists of 40 hours, overtime is not required or encouraged. Our office owns and maintains some basic outdoor equipment and camping gear to help facilitate the staff, their friends and family members in getting out and enjoying what Yellowknife has to offer.

Compensation:

Starting salary for a student entering year one of the CASB program will be $38,000.00 /year

Someone who completes the CASB program, successfully passes the UFE, and remains with our firm can expect to earn $70,0000 /year after the UFE results are published.
